NOTE Hardbody is one of my favorite characters, and one that I got the most use from. The character started as a guy back in Second Edition called Bulletproof. but The GM and a player wanted a female team mate and romantic interest so we rolled a die and Bulletproof became a female. eventually her background and powers changes with each new edition of Champions When creating her metallic body for defensive purposes I went with Damage Resistance. Armor is more representative of Added protection (an extra layer of protection). For Hardbody her protection is her metallic skin. (subtle to the touch yet resilient enough for protection) For Hardbody's larger size I went with the 5th edition rules on size altering powers. (If you can ALTER the character's size use the size altering power. If the character is permanently a certain size then use powers to represent the abilities of the characters permanent size) USE Hardbody is obviously a BRICK archetype. She can...
1) Be assigned to a group as part of her probation BACKGROUND
As I said before HARDBODY has a few backgrounds. Two of them (the ones I remember) are the following: 1) Ex-Gang member
Rebecca Rhyder was born into an extremely poor family that lasted till
Rebecca was 10. (Strike 1). Her dyslexia was never diagnosed and she has
been labeled a problem child all through grade school (Strike 2). By age
13 her paranormal ability emerged leaving her a metallic monstrosity (Strike 3) Rebecca ran away from home soon after. After living on the streets for a while she was taken in by a gang DIABLO. For a few years she was 'JUNKYARD' She was treated almost like a pet but the gang members where kinder and warmer to her than her mother was.
By age 16 DIABLO was glad they treated 'JUNKYARD' well. for all the metal spikes quills plates and other protrusions stopped growing and were absorbed into her body and she turned into a metallic Amazon. Rebecca went from loved pet the loved girl. It was also discovered the Rebecca was extremely strong and nigh invulnerable to anything the streets threw against DIABLO. with the newly christened HARDBODY. Diablo became a powerful gang. In one gang activity that went bad a few members of Diablo and Hardbody was cornered by the police. After the police were out of ammo from the altercation, the still armed members were hyped and willing to 'off' the cops. Taking out a threat or self defense was OK with her but killing a cop. That was bad no matter what. She stood between the pals and the unarmed and injured cops and tried to talk them out of killing the cops. The gang was still hyped and if you were not with them you were against them. They tried to have Rebecca move. she refused so they shot her. The bullets did not do any physical damage but having her 'family' shoot at her shocked her. Diablo got away but Hardbody was arrested. Hardbody's actions and the testimony of the cops she saved earned her a special probation. Hardbody is now a heroine
2) Construction worker
Rebecca Rhyder was born into a nice middle class family. she was a normal but shy your girl. By the age of 14 Rebecca's meta-ability became active. Rebecca's mutation manifested as metallic growths, protrusions and other malformations all over her body. She was taken out of school and entered home schooling. When it was discovered why she was taken out of public school. Personnel from The Regis School came and enrolled Rebecca in the school with her parent's blessing, (A school for children of Meta-Active abilities)
During her years at the school, Rebecca's appearance went from 'Junkyard' to 'Metallic Amazon'. She went into a vocational program where she jot a job at a construction company. She made friends and the news. Thanks to her new appearance and her co-workers, Rebecca got the name HARDBODY. |
